In 1875, Paliyagoda vidyalankara piriwena was foundered by Rathmalane sri Darmaloka theru and In 1978, it was changed to University of Kelaniya.
The university is contained many facilities and now I want to show you some of them.
  • ·        Administrator

Procedures of registration of students, students identity cards,student records Books and  appeals which are related to student matters are conducted by academic division. Now deputy register of academic division is Mrs.M.M.N.T.K Yalegama.


Following activities are administrate by student welfare division.
Maintenance of hostels, canteens, and activities related to mahapola schoralship, bursary and other scholarships, registration of student associations such as LED and LEO, giving permission to seminars, dramas and other events which are organized by university student associations. The director of student affairs is Dr. Chaminda Abesinghe.


  • ·        Library

The university library has contained 239,800 books and monographs which are related to research activities and other study programs. Therefore, the students can access 12,500 more full text academic journals, 60 local and foreign journals and around 100,000 e-books are provided.
library reader services section are normally kept open for users from 8.00 am to 6.00 pm during weekdays and weekends.
There is user education section which is aim of improving information literacy skills for users. Medical Faculty Library which is caters to the academic staff and students of the university.

  • ·        Medical center

Medical center provides free consultations and free basic medicine and dental facilities are also provided to all students. The medical officers are well trained in student counseling and health such as areas of sexual and reproductive health of youth.




  • ·        Faculty of Science

The faculty of science consists of eight departments such as department of Mathematics, Department of Botany, Department of Zoology and environmental Management, Department of statistics and computer science, Department of physics, Department of Chemistry and department of Industrial Management. Dean of the faculty is Prof.(Ms) B.M Jayawardana.



  • ·        Faculty of Computing and Technology


The faculty of computing and technology established on 2015.there are three departments are consisted such as department of Applied computing, department of Computer Systems Engineering and Department of Software Engineering. Dean of the faculty is Dr. P.G Wijayarathna. The degree programs which are conducted by FCT are Bachelor of Information and technology,  Bachelor of Engineering Technology etc.

Workshop Experience in WSO2

         Last Wednesday we visited WSO2 for a workshop which is done about Technical Writing. Actually before that session, neither I had known anything about technical writing nor even available such type of field.          So,the night before that day the hard thing for me was the dress code.I opened my suitcase and find out a proper dress nearly one hour.When I entry to WSO2 I wished I will have a job like this company.In ground floor there are many kind of indoor games such as Carrom to free their mind. It's a nice place.            Our workshop was held in 7th floor named as Area 51. When we entry they gave us a note book and a pen that branded as WSO2 logo. The session was started sharply 9.00 am.
